Last part of a day here, folks! We got up with the sun, which comes up at around 5:30 or so here and laid around until a more reasonable hour. We finished packing everything up and popped down for a quick breakfast before we checked out.

When we took the bags to the car we were in for a nasty surprise. The car park had filled up and the person that had parked right next to the path out, had parked REALLY close. Like, I was pretty sure I could get through, but the angle was going to be…something.

We packed up the car and Dad stayed out to spot for me. It was a very tense 10 minutes and I was almost certain I was going to scrape the car against either the barricade or the other vehicle, but I made it. Dad said if we had had another coat of paint we wouldn’t have made it.

We got on our way and back to the airport 10 minutes to 9 (whew!) and got the car turned in. I will have you know, Dear Reader, there was not a scratch on the car or the tires. I managed to drive 950 miles in Scotland and didn’t have a single accident or scratch the car in any way. Yay!

I was sad to leave her. She was a good little car.

We wheeled our way over to the terminal and got Dad’s suitcase checked and then headed for security. I managed to forget a bottle of water in the snack bag and Dad forgot to take his toiletries out so we both got to go through the extra security check...

We got through security and wheeled our way through Edinburgh’s tiny airport and got some cokes on the way. We settled down at our gate and got to relax for a couple of hours before our flight.

Zero drama on the flight from Edinburgh to Washington and we even got into DC half and hour early! We got through customs without any trouble and Ariel was waiting right outside to pick us both up.

We got back to my apartment and dropped everything off and said hello to the dogs (Georgie was ecstatic to see me. Darcy was ecstatic to see Grandpa).
