July 18, 2002: Hampstead Heath

I set my alarm clock for 7 am but for some reason I didn't wake-up so Diana and I got up at 7:40. We were really tired from the night before. We ate breakfast at 7:30 (or 7:40 in our case). Then we all went outside for flag. We had a meeting in the Conference Room then we walked from Pax Lodge to Hampstead Heath where our service project was.

We toured the House and grounds of the Kenwood Estate. Our service project was eradicating a particularly bad Asian plant that was taking over Hampstead Heath. I pulled plants for two hours instead of one because I got left, by my group, in the woods. Afterwards we walked back to Pax Lodge. Our group decided to wash clothes at a local laundromat so we hauled our clothes down the street, washed clothes, then came back.

We got dressed for International Night and ate dinner in the Dining Hall. After dinner we got ready for International Night and sorted clothes. I performed at International Night. Everyone really liked it. After everyone performed we all swapped swaps. I got a lot of cool pins.

I called Mom at all of her phone numbers and I couldn't get her at any of them. I went back upstairs and sorted my swaps. Some of the girls and Greta went to the city to make phone calls because the phone was tied up. I cleaned my area of the room and then went downstairs again to see if I could get Mom. She was on the phone. I called twice. I am not calling again. It is wasting my precious sleep time!

I went upstairs again and Diana and I wrote in our journals till 11:45 pm.
