Well we got so much done over the last two days we decided to head out on a tour of St. Andrews today.
We got up plenty early (especially by Edinburgh’s standards) and popped down to Gregg’s for a sausage roll for breakfast before we started walking towards Waverley to find the tour bus stop.

We got to the meeting point quite early and walked around a bit to see the Sir Walter Scot memorial and then, as we were still early, I suggested we climb Carlton Hill, a little park/hill we could see from our hotel.

We walked up the spiraling walkway and got to see the view from the top. There was a flock of the black and white birds we had seen yesterday (which we found out were magpies).

We headed back down and met up with the bus and got on our way to Fife. The first stop was the seaside village of Anstruther where we got to stretch our legs for a bit before heading on to St. Andrews.

The bus dropped us off at the Old Course at St. Andrews around noon and we took a few pictures before heading off to find some food. We stopped at the Greyfriar’s Inn a few blocks away and had an AMAZING lunch (Dad had a burger and I had the steak and ale pie…Dad immediately regretted his choice. The pie was unbelievable.) After lunch Dad headed back to the Old Course and I headed into town to do some shopping.
Tony: I watched them tee off on number 1 on the Old Course. Then watched some guys come in on 18 and putt out in the Old Course. Walked down to the beach and then went to a 18 hole putting course and played 18 holes. And then watched some putting practice until 3 when it was time to meet up again.
Erin: I headed down the street and found a used bookshop that had nearly all of Anthony Trollope’s books bound and in nice covers. The bookstore owner was happy to see someone looking for Trollope and gave me a deal on a nice copy of Doctor Thorne. I kept popping into shops and finally ended up in Sainsbury to buy Dad a coke and myself a package of shortbread, then headed back to meet Dad at the Old Course.
We headed to Falkirk after St. Andrews (Setting for Inverness in Outlander) and I got to take a picture of the fountain and buildings they used for the ghost scene.
Then back to Edinburgh with a quick stop to take pictures of the three bridges over the Firth of Forth.

We got back into Edinburgh a little after 6 and made a quick stop at the Apple Store for a new phone case before heading back to No. 11 for the night. Lunch was so big we both decided to do snacks for dinner and then watched Outlaw/King on Netflix before bed.
